The bronze bracelet has a rich history. The ancient construction of bronze jewelry forms the foundations for all modern metal work.

The style of modern bronze bracelets draw much of their inspiration from ancient Egyptian, Incan and Babylonian design. Combining the heavy alloy of bronze with leather to create a style that is mysterious and daring.

Bronze is a supple alloy and a fine material for craftsmen to work with. Intricate detail and attention can be used weaving pieces that also take inspiration from classical periods.

The symbol of Ouroboros, the snake eating its own tail, is an ancient and mythical symbol. It first appeared in ancient Egypt in 1600 B.C. The Egyptians regarded this as a symbol of time, how all things will circle not to the end, but to a new beginning, it was a symbol of eternity. This symbol spread from Egypt to China, Babylon and then the rest of the world and was popular in ancient Rome. The symbol was honored in the design of ancient bronze bracelets and is still being used today. Modern designs keep to the original single-wire design with the snakehead and tail tastefully on the front, interwoven and never-ending.

The design of men’s bronze bracelets are often less ornate. They use symmetry and strong lines to create a look that is both appealing and masculine. Celtic designs are also used. Traditional Celtic bronze bracelets were worn as good luck charms, to show social standing and personal character and to ward off evil spirits. Celtic bronze bracelets today exude an air of individuality and have a raw warrior appeal.

Because of the relative inexpensive price of bronze compared to other precious metals, bronze will often be plated in gold, or house precious stones. Coating a bronze bracelet in gold will still give a reassuring weight to the piece and have the status of gold but bring the overall cost of the piece down.

Bronze bracelets are not only stylish and some of the first types of jewelry ever created, they also have reported health benefits. Bronze is an alloy, which means it is a mixture of two metals, in this case 90% copper and 10% tin. Wearing copper on the skin has been known to relieve arthritic pain and can also be absorbed by the skin to aid the immune system. Copper also binds to enzymes and aids the formation of hemoglobin, actually helping form collagen for wound healing.

Bronze is designed to last. There are new bronze bracelets being found that are perfectly preserved, such as the rare bronze horned bracelet which was 3,500 years old and found in Israel. The horned bracelet was said to represent power, fertility and the law. The reason bronze is found so well preserved is the patina that bronze forms over time. Unlike other metals this patina will prevent the metal from further corrosion and keep the bronze bracelet in perfect condition for thousands of years.

Whether you want to feel like an Egyptian empress of a Celtic warrior, there is a bronze bracelet that will enhance your personal style and is as individual as you are.
