Fine jewelry is usually  made of a high quality metal such as gold, silver and platinum, and of high quality gems such as  diamonds, rubies, and emeralds.

Today's jewelry designers are known for their fine jewelry.  Judith Ripka, John Hardy, and  Mikimoto, are a few of today's finest jewelry designers.

Judith Ripka has been designing jewelry for over 30 years.  She is a New York City based designer who definitely has balanced being a wife, a mother and a successful business woman.  Today, her family works with her in her business.  Judith's designs are versatile and can be worn with everything from  blue jeans to black tie and everything in between.  Judith's fine jewelry is to be worn every day!

John Hardy, another fine jewelry design company was founded in 1989, by John Hardy. He visited Bali in the mid - 1970's and the island's jewelry-making traditions piqued his interest.  Hardy developed his first pieces by applying new design concepts to traditional Balinese techniques.  Guy Bedarida, joined the company in 1999 as Head Designer.  His designs are inspired by nature, European techniques and the ancient art of Asia.  John Hardy Fine jewelry is sold all around the world.

Mikimoto was known for the best pearls.  In 1878, Mikimoto saw misshapen and underdeveloped pearls being sold.  He did not like the pearl industry's greed and disregard for quality. In his research he learned that Akoya oysters produced the best pearls.  He introduced a particle into the flesh of the oyster to stimulate secretions of "nacre" that build up in hundreds of thousands of layers.  This creates a lustrous pearl.  Mikimoto opened his first pearl boutique in Tokyo's fashionable shopping district.    Mikimoto's passion and ceaseless dedication to pearls led to many exciting developments, and helped his nation prosper.  Today, Mikimoto's fine jewelry is the most sought after pearl jewelry.

As you are looking for your fine jewelry,  make sure you are getting the original.  There are many jewelers who copy these beautiful designs.  You will want to work with a reputable jeweler to make sure you are purchasing the fine jewelry you desire.
